Advantages:
The Huawei EC360′s Alltel Aircard works if your laptop has the PC Card slot for it. It’s compact and a retractable antenna allows for better reception in the nook and crannies of the Alltel coverage area. Speed is EVDO Rev. A for up to 3.1 Mbps.
Disadvantages:
PC Cards are on the way out in favor of ExpressCards. They aren’t as compatible across the board because newer, more compact laptops only ship with ExpressCard or USB slots.
Details
How about we scratch through all that business-speak about enhanced browsing, better user experience, and its star trek enterprise futuristic design. How about we just get right down to it. What’s really happening here with the Huawei EC360 Aircard? It’s a PC Card. What does that mean? It’s got a small form factor and it fits real snug into your laptop. It also means that if you want it, make sure you have a Type II PCMCIA Card slot. If that sounds like Portuguese to you, then check out the online mini-course "Mobile Broadband Buyer’s Guide" to research a bit more before buying. However if you don’t have a PC Card slot, check out another Alltel aircard.
Next up, it’s EVDO Revision A. That means it goes pretty fast (3.1 Mbps) and can rival the speed of DSL connections out there.
